Free Software For All...err...All Mac Users

Here are a couple free little programs, that you may enjoy.

Chax - Adds some functionality to iChat

Growl - pops up alerts for various programs, also lets you hide iChat and it will pop up any messages you get.

Also I finally got my DVD player, it's a Marantz VC-5200 5 disc changer, it's great I didn't even have to program my universal remote to use it.

Timmy, did you take your focusin?

Be sure to watch the whole video, don't worry if you can't understand it, it's in german, and if you do understand it, please translate.

HissyFit

Those that have spent some quality time with video games, can relate hopefully to a much lesser degree.

Adventures with Pit Bulls

Many people have a misguided perception that all pit bulls are deadly, child eaters, that are untrainable, and will turn on their owners without reason. That's just not true, they are very intelligent, friendly and easily trainable, they want to please their owners, and are really good with kids and many are really good with cats too.

I once spent like 3 weeks working at a house that had two full grown pit bulls, one male and one female, and one little foofy dog, like a 10-15 pound lap dog. These guys are super friendly, they just want attention. Each day when we would show up they barked in recognition, they knew who we were and were excited.

These dogs are smart. One day "J" was playing with them and showed the female how to run up the kids slide, now she does it on command. Another day "J" was showing them how the lock to the gate worked (not the best idea seeing how smart these dogs are), he went back to work and about ten minutes later a neighbor comes by to let him know one of the dogs was out. This was kind of a normal thing because the little dog had figured out a couple ways to get out of the yard. But when he went outside he saw that it was the male pit bull that had gotten out, he had figured out how to open the gate lock in about ten minutes, that's pretty smart.

One day when I can actually have a dog, mine will probably be a pit bull,
and I will do everything I can to socialize and train my dog really well. I can't stand untrained dogs.

Oh yeah, screw PETA.

PETA- they don't really want you to have a pet.

I came across this page highlighting the Truth About PETA , while reading this got me pretty pissed. These guys try to come across as good people, like they are trying to help the treatment of pets, and other animals. They are trying to ban various breeds of dogs just because a few of them have had some issues with bad character traits, that were bred in by people. This legislation is mostly for pit bulls because of the fighting that has been bred into some of them, because the PETA founder had a bad experience with a pit bull.
They don't want you to kill chickens for food, foxes for fur or frogs for dissection, but they do support the killing of innocent pit bulls, that have done nothing except but be the wrong breed. PETA supports this breed specific legislation, but not just for pit bulls, but for ANY breed. They specifically mention Rottweilers, Dobermans and other "guardian" breeds. They see it as a first step to banning the ownership of any pet animal. These people want to try to ban the pet...can you imagine not being allowed to have a dog or cat as a pet? This doesn't just apply to those animals but also to fish, birds, reptiles, and other small rodent type creatures.
These genius's think it's cruel to keep a pet. But most of these pets pretty much rely on humans for protection, food, and companionship. Have you ever seen the rare and very deadly wild beagle? No? Oh yeah they don't exist, they wouldn't survive in the wild.

So I won't be supporting nor donating any money to PETA any time soon.

There is an old saying...

That bad things come in threes, well some of you know a month or so ago my laptop hard drive failed, then my dvd player crapped out, I was thinking about it and started to wonder whats next. Well Saturday afternoon my big tv decided to be the third! Now I've stolen my brothers 20" tv and put it on his piano bench in front of my dead 50" so lame. Things are starting to look up though, on saturday I won an auction for an Marantz 5200 5 disc dvd player that should be here next week. The tv is going to take a little while, but my birthday is coming up and I'm asking for $$$ so I can get a new tv. Specifically a 42" HD plasma panel, I think its time to finally step into the current electronics, everything else I have is old, 6yr. old hafler amplifier, 8yr. old Marantz receiver, 10yr. old sony vcr, approximately 36yr. old Altec Lansing A7-500 speakers, and hopefully a brand spankin' new tv. We'll see.

El Camino For Sale

It's official my El Camino is in the collector car trader online.

1972 Chevrolet El Camino Big Block for sale.

I spent at least an hour trying to make the description not look retarded on the preview but the preview is NOT the same size as the actual ad, repeat NOT the same, how is this considered a preview if it's not really what it's going to look like. GRRR.

No updates for the MINI other than the '06 Cooper S is as fast as the '04 Cooper S Works that I drove, so I'm not going to get the works kit, I may get a Dinan kit installed down the road, takes the horsepower from 168 to 210, and that equals more fun. White with black top is still the front runner but the dark silver and hyper blue are a tie for second. Also I can't order the MINI until the El Camino sells.
